Rehoming Tails is a volunteer-driven initiative dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned, neglected, and surrendered dogs. We focus especially on dogs from unethical breeding situations and irresponsible ownership. Our mission is to be the bridge between lost hope and new beginnings for every dog we rescue.

We are powered by a dedicated team of volunteers, adoption coordinators, foster families, and compassionate supporters. Our core team includes Anita Shetty, Himanshu Darne, Purnima Mali, Vinay Jain, Pooja Singh, Radha Pusalkar, and Sahil Kamble, working alongside many other volunteers and partners.

Yes! We collaborate with NGOs, veterinary professionals, and responsible pet parents to ensure every adoption is a perfect match. This network approach helps us provide comprehensive care and support for our rescued dogs.

Adoption FAQs

Our adoption process involves seven steps:

  1. Browse available dogs online
  2. Apply by filling out our adoption form
  3. Screening - our team reviews your application
  4. Phone Interview - we contact you to discuss further
  5. Home Check - we visit to ensure your home is safe
  6. Meet & Greet - you spend time with the dog
  7. Adoption Agreement - sign contract, pay fee, and welcome your new family member home

To adopt from us, you must:

  • Be 21 years or older
  • Have landlord approval if you're renting
  • Be financially able to care for the dog long-term
  • Commit to regular vet visits, vaccinations, and sterilization
  • Provide a safe, secure, and loving environment
  • Agree to no chaining or cage confinement
  • Demonstrate a lifetime commitment to the pet

After submitting a complete application form, our team will contact you within 5 working days. The entire process timeline depends on scheduling for home checks and meet & greet sessions, but we work efficiently while ensuring thorough screening.

Yes, there is a nominal adoption fee. This helps cover some of the medical care, vaccinations, and rehabilitation costs we've invested in each dog before adoption.

When you adopt, you'll receive an adoption kit and guidance from our team to help you and your new pet transition smoothly into your life together.

Fostering FAQs

Fostering gives rescued dogs a safe space to heal in a home environment while freeing up shelter capacity for the next rescue. Foster families play a critical role in helping dogs adjust to home life, making them more adoptable and increasing their chances of finding forever homes.

Foster families are responsible for:

  • Providing food, clean water, and shelter
  • Taking the dog for vet visits if needed (we cover the costs)
  • Giving basic training, affection, and patience
  • Sharing photos and videos with our team for adoption promotion

Simply fill out our Foster Application Form. We'll discuss your preferences and experience, then match you with a suitable dog. You'll welcome them into your home until they find their forever family.

While experience is helpful, it's not mandatory. We provide guidance and support throughout the fostering process, and we match dogs based on your experience level and comfort.

Support Us

Every rescue story continues with resources. Your support helps us cover:

  • Feeding: Nutritious meals for rescued dogs, many arriving malnourished
  • Medical Care: Vaccinations, sterilization, blood tests, emergency surgeries, and treatments
  • Transport: Safe pick-ups, vet visits, and travel to fosters or adopters
  • Rehabilitation: Emotional and behavioral support to help dogs recover from trauma

Every rupee you give becomes hope, comfort, and a second chance for a dog in need. Donations directly support the medical care, feeding, transport, and rehabilitation of rescued dogs.
