31st December 2022: The Day We Found Lucy
On the last day of 2022, fate brought Lucy into our lives. She was found wandering alone, lost or abandoned, when one of our volunteers, Suyash, spotted her and brought her home. He immediately called us and narrated the whole story.
Looking at how gorgeous and gentle this Pitbull girl was, we secretly hoped she might just be lost—that somewhere, her family was searching for her. We quickly made posters, circulated them across WhatsApp groups, Facebook communities, and Instagram pages. But days passed, and no one came forward to claim her.

The Search for the Right Home
Soon, adoption enquiries started pouring in. People texted and called, some even pleaded to adopt Lucy. We also heard from NGOs willing to take her into their shelters. But deep down, we knew Lucy deserved more than uncertainty. We didn’t want her to end up in the wrong hands or spend her days in a shelter.
We decided to wait... for the right family.

5th January 2023: Foster Love
That’s when Kareesha stepped in. She and her husband Aditya offered to foster Lucy until we found her a permanent family. With their warmth, patience, and unconditional love, Lucy blossomed. The once sad and confused girl transformed into the happiest, most playful Pitbull.
Still, finding a forever home wasn’t easy. We received applications, but not every adopter’s intentions matched what Lucy needed. One adoption was nearly finalized, but excuses and delays soon revealed that it wasn’t the right match.
The setbacks were tough. At times, I questioned whether we had made the right decision by not letting Lucy go to a shelter or any family that approached us. But every time I looked at her wagging tail and hopeful eyes, I knew we had to keep trying.

19th February 2023: The Right Connection
After weeks of waiting, reposting, and resharing Lucy’s adoption story, we finally found a family who felt right. A conversation over the phone led to a meeting—and the moment Lucy met them, we knew. It was an instant connection.
22nd February 2023: Lucy’s Forever Home
On this special day, Lucy officially went to her forever home. Her new family welcomed her with open arms, ready to give her the love and security she had always deserved.

Lucy’s adoption journey is a reminder of why patience and persistence matter in rescue and rehoming. Every dog deserves not just a home, but the right home, a family that will cherish them for life.
At RehomingTails, we believe in finding safe, loving, and permanent families for every abandoned or rescued dog. Just like Lucy, countless dogs in India are waiting for their second chance.
If you are thinking about bringing a furry friend into your life, choose adoption—it changes everything.
